Job Details:

BlackSky is seeking a seasoned Contract Law Expert to join its team and provide invaluable guidance on contractual matters, regulatory compliance, and supply chain risk management.

This key role involves navigating complex contracts, analyzing risks, and developing strategies to minimize liability and ensure optimal business outcomes.

Applicants should possess a solid background in contract law, with a proven track record of success in similar roles.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with both domestic and foreign clients, along with a deep understanding of relevant laws and regulations.

While prior experience in the space and/or defense sectors is beneficial, it is not a requirement.

The selected candidate will report directly to the VP of Legal and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive business success.

Candidates from the surrounding areas of Herndon, VA headquarters are preferred but remote candidates in select states may also be considered.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide expert counsel on contractual matters, focusing on contract analysis, interpretation, and negotiation.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, leveraging expertise in contract law and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with the VP of Legal to develop and implement strategies for managing contractual relationships and mitigating potential liabilities.
• Support the team in analyzing and interpreting contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to address business-critical issues and drive strategic decision-making.

Key Qualifications:

• Hold a Juris Doctorate degree with a minimum of seven (7) years' experience in contract law.
• Possess at least three (3) years of experience in the space or defense sectors.
• Be licensed to practice law and maintain good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of contract law principles, including negotiation, analysis, and interpretation.
• Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Hold an active Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in managing supply chain risk and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in US government contracting (FAR/DFARS) and supporting U.S. Government programs.
• International contracting and negotiation expertise.
• Prior experience working within a corporate environment, preferably within the space or defense industry.
• Expertise in working with regulatory bodies such as NOAA, FCC, and/or NASA for satellite licensing and regulation.

Salary Range:

Expected annual salary for Seattle, WA-based candidates falls within the $160,000 to 180,000 range.

The final compensation package will depend on the candidate's unique background and qualifications.
