POSITION SUMMARY: Generally, the Dishwasher is responsible for the cleanliness of the Kitchen and keeps the kitchen staff supplied with clean dishes, glassware pots, pans and utensils. The Dishwasher may also have the job of keeping the kitchen clean during a shift, takes out trash, cleans floors, etc. Each Kitchen Staff member must become thoroughly familiar with the procedural and technical details of Black Tap, LLC’s professional and accommodating service, standard operating procedures, including specific appearance standards, guest interaction procedures, food-handling and storage procedures, equipment and tool maintenance, and the overall operation of our kitchen.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Shows confidence, energy, and enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance, and a friendly, helpful, approachable demeanor.
- No previous dishwashing experiences required, but experienced kitchen workers preferred.
- Understands the operation and maintenance of all machines and tools used for food preparation and cleaning.
- Satisfactory physical and mental health to perform the requirements of the job, and to work with the public in compliance with applicable foodservice health and safety regulations, (must not have any diseases that can be transmitted through food).
- Able to perform the essential functions of the assigned position with or without reasonable accommodation, to meet Black Tap, LLC’s service and operations standards within company policies and procedures.
- § Be available and willing to work all scheduled shifts, including working weekends and holidays.
- Capable of communicating with others, able to express and exchange ideas in spoken and written English preferred.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans and maintains all dishes, glasses, pots, pans, tools, knives, utensils, etc., for meeting food preparation demands and timely service during all shifts.
- Understands the operation of the dish machine, and monitors the output of all chemicals concerning the dish machine.
- Sets up, breaks down, and cleans the dish machine and the surrounding area.
- Washes, unloads dishes, utensils, and glassware in the dishwasher area, and puts away items in an efficient and timely manner, with minimal or no breakage.
- Mops, sweeps, scrubs and wipes the kitchen areas as well as perform other cleaning procedures, such as collecting trash from receptacles and taking outside to dumpster.
- Communicates with supervisors regarding dish machine problems, cleaning supplies, broken dishes, damaged utensils and cracked glasses to help maintain an adequate supply for superior foodservice.
- If asked to assist in food preparation, must follow all required food handling and sanitation procedures to ensure the quality of menu items served and the health and safety of guests and co-workers.
- Comply with all of Black Tap, LLC’s employment related policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork and cooperation with co-workers, management, vendors and/or suppliers.
- Be dressed in a clean uniform with acceptable footwear and other protective gear, ready to begin at start of all scheduled shifts, and work until the end of scheduled shifts, unless authorized by management for approved shift or work schedule change.
- Learn about all job functions in the kitchen.
- Maintain reliable transportation to get to work on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as side-work, cleaning and maintaining assigned work areas, or administrative projects.
- Regularly attend all staff meetings, training, informational and education sessions.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to eight (8) hours during a shift (with limited breaks); carry up to 50 lbs. and push cart weighing up to 150 lbs. without straining; and sustain repetitive motions of legs, feet, waist, back, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and fingers.
- Protect Black Tap, LLC and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcoholic beverage control policies.
- Contribute to Black Tap, LLC’s success by welcoming relevant, different and new requests; ideas and opinions for improving operations and service; helping others with assigned duties; and willingness to work towards meeting and exceeding established revenue goals.
