Description and Qualifications
The carpenter will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of interior and exterior wood surfaces, trim, molding, structures, and fixtures in a manner that preserves the five-star appearance of Blackberry Farm’s 4,200 acres of campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for constructing, installing, replacing, and repairing structures, fixtures, molding, and other items made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other misc. materials.
- Have experience using different tools of the carpentry trade to cut and shape wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall, including, but not limited to, squares, tape measures, levels, and chisels, hand and power tools, such as drills, sanders, saws, nail guns, and welding machines.
- Must possess and have on-hand miscellaneous hand tools needed to complete minor carpentry repairs.
- Know how to appropriately select lumber by size, type, and strength to suit each job, and source wood to suit the budget, design, style, and need.
- Must be able to accurately measure, modify, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials.
- Must be able to properly install fixtures and fittings, such as door handles, locks, hinges, closures, etc.
- Knowledgeable in drawing up plans for proposed works, sourcing materials, preparing estimates, and undertaking site visits.
- Must be able to properly fasten different materials with nails, bolts, screws, staples, and adhesives, and have a good understanding of the applications and uses of different types of fasteners and adhering materials.
- Preparing walls and wood surfaces for painting, including sanding, pressure washing, and cleaning agent applications, to possibly include minimal sheetrock installation and repair.
- May be assigned light to minimal furniture restoration, i.e., repairing, sanding, staining, treating, and finishing.
- Maintaining current carpentry supply inventories.
- Be able to communicate items with clients, suppliers, and construction professionals in a professional manner.
- Have a basic understanding of blueprints and building design plans to meet the needs of clients.
- Knowledgeable in the use of rigging hardware and crane operation is a plus.
- Basic understanding and use of electronics, such as smartphones, tablets, and other personal electronic devices and software.
- Some general maintenance.
- Ensuring a clean and safe work environment during and after final completion of work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
Regular and consistent attendance is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position.
Must be able to work well with other Team Members and Managers and interact with our guests.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High School or equivalent.
- Must have a current TN Driver’s License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must be able to communicate clearly with management, team members, and Blackberry Farm guests in an informative and consistent manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Knowledge and understanding of basic math, including unit measurement, area, volume, and fractions.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ensure all interior and exterior building surfaces are orderly, meticulous and five-star in appearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments regardless of temperature or weather.
- May be required to work long hours.
- Must be able to safely operate a golf cart, and/ or company vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work will primarily be assigned for locations within the 4,200-acre Blackberry Farm property, including all interior and exterior portions of all buildings, common areas, grounds, and trails, but work location can vary and can incorporate any area of the Blackberry Farm or Blackberry Mountain property locations. e Blackberry Farm or Blackberry Mountain property locations.
