What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard/Pool Attendant position at Blackberry?
The Waterfront Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the safety of guests while they are visiting the Valley at the Pond or the Pool at Blackberry Mountain. They will assist with the sale of Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic beverages and maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the pool facilities, pond and Valley. This position will also work as a Pool Attendant and is a front line impression of the activities department and the service they receive while visiting Blackberry Mountain.
Season: April-October, weekends are required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Will act as Lifeguard on duty for the waterfront at the pond and/or pools
- Provide warm, friendly and attentive service at our pools, pond and pool house
- Assist with the sale of both Non- Alcoholic and Alcoholic Drinks from the Pool House
- Assist with the sale of Food from the Pool House
- Restock the supplies daily/weekly
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and upkeep in the pool facilities, pond and the Valley
- Ensure the daily task list is completed
- Assist guests with needs that may arise
- Act as a host to guests in the Valley
- Responsible for the care, upkeep and storage of all equipment
Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance is required.
Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers and interact with our guests.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft Office Computer Skills
- Waterfront or Waterpark Lifeguard Certification
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, managers and team members
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic knowledge and understanding of math
REASONING ABILITY
- Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to climb stairs
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart
- Must be able to meet the demands of Lifeguarding Duties
- Must be able to be outside for long periods of time in different weather
