What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preservation Kitchen Assistant position at Blackberry?
The Preservation Kitchen Assistant will assist in the production of all Farmstead products, including, but not limited to, record keeping, inventory, and packaging of goods, and helping maintain the cleanliness of the Larder building and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in production and packaging of all jams, jellies, pickles, preserves, dry mixes and cereals, as well as any other food preservation required by the Larder Manager and/or Chefs.
- Ensure proper labeling/dating and rotation of all inventory in the preserve kitchen.
- Document all production in established forms to ensure adherence to FDA regulations.
- Assist in ordering materials necessary for production in the Preservation Kitchen.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the preserve kitchen to FDA standards.
- Generate internal sales tickets for all larder products sold.
- Assist with inventory counts in the Larder kitchens.
- Maintain production, cleanliness, and upkeep of Oyster mushroom program.
- Intercept internal phone calls and follow-up with necessary personnel.
- Assist guests with all Farmstead product-related needs and requests from guests and chefs
- Assist as needed with other Farmstead and Larder production-related projects and duties, including daily tours and shift coverage, Creamery production and packaging, Butcher Shop production and packaging, and milking shifts
- Create new Farmstead products under direction of Larder and Farmstead manager and recipe test as needed
- Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers, and interact with our guests daily

Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No supervisory responsibilities
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2-4 years of kitchen experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic knowledge and understanding of math
REASONING ABILITY
- Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to be on feet for the majority of the day
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
