Job Summary:
The Building Engineer will supervise and maintain, repair, and operate building systems for a facility, in Gloucester, MA . This hands-on role requires a self-driven, proactive individual with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a strong technical background, and the ability to work independently to ensure safe and efficient operations of all building systems. This role does not supervise employees but contractors as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee HVAC, building automation, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and life safety systems, ensuring all work is completed per lease obligations and industry standards (ASHRAE, BOMA).
- Documentation: Use work order systems to track scheduled maintenance, tenant requests, and emergencies.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate third-party contractors, develop scopes of work, solicit bids, and inspect contractor performance.
- Inspections & Safety: Regular building inspections to ensure safety compliance (OSHA).
- Customer Service: Act as a point of contact for tenants and property managers, addressing concerns with professionalism and urgency.
Key Skills & Qualities:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Communication: Skills both verbal and written
- Problem-solving & Decision-Making: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively.

Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 5-7 years in commercial building maintenance preferred.
- Physical Demands: Must lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, bend, and work in various environments.
