Position Summary
Teach safe, effective, and fun, Pilates Reformer group classes (maximum of 6) to mixed level participants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare ahead, adequate warm-up, class content, stretch and mobility, and cool down
- Instruct, coach, cue, and demo, class participants on effective exercise technique
- Prepare appropriate equipment and music for each class
- Deliver exceptional member experience for members and guests
- Assist club management in promotion of events, new products and promotions
- Work on maintaining and building classes. If class needs attendance boost, work to pull members into class
- Instructor must be able to safely move stored reformers from storage closet, for set-up and take-down each class.
- Ring up transactions accurately in club point of sale to charge members class fee, after class.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Nationally recognized, current Group Exercise certification ACE, AFAA, ACSM or relevant format specific certification (Pilates Reformer)
- Willingness to be CPR/AED and First Aid certified
- At least six months teaching Pilates group exercise classes
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and educate members
- Strong desire to help others reach their health and fitness goals
- Knowledge of safe exercise technique and group exercise principles
- Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics
- Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills
- Instructors must provide appropriate current certification
- Completes Blackhawk Country Club requirements
- Professional, neat appearance
Physical Demands and Work Environment

- Mobility: The role may require frequent movement, including, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, or reaching to move reformer equipment, as well as demonstrate class exercises for participants.
- Lifting: Lifting of equipment, will be necessary unto 50 lbs.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers for tasks such as typing, writing, operating computer systems, handling paperwork.
- Vision: Clear vision and ability to read written documents, computer screens, and equipment displays are essential for observing class participants, as well as completing point of sale transactions.
- Hearing: Good hearing ability is necessary for effective communication with staff, members, guests, and vendors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Indoor/Outdoor Setting: The majority of work is performed indoors.
- Temperature: The work environment may vary in temperature, depending on the location and season. It may include both heated and air-conditioned areas. The majority of the time, studio space will range between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Noise Level: The work environment can be fast-paced and may involve moderate to high levels of noise from the main fitness center, weight room areas, and cardio area.
- Pressure: The role occasionally involves working under pressure, especially when handling member conflict.
- Interaction: Regular interaction with staff, guests, vendors, and other department heads is common, requiring effective communication, interpersonal skills, and diplomacy.
- Safety: Adherence to health and safety protocols, including keeping yourself safe while on the job, using provided sanitizing wipes to sanitize equipment before and after use, asking for assistance as needed when moving equipment, as to not rush or injure self. Keep personal items free of walkways, and remind members to do the same, preventing trips and falls. Wipe up any spilled water/liquid to also prevent slipping. If spotting a member during class, use proper technique and form to protect self from injury.
Position pay: $16.50 per hour commission
