Securities Lending generate alpha for clients across scientific, fundamental and index products. We partner with portfolio managers to optimize returns through a variety of trade types. BlackRock is a pioneer of using quantitative techniques and sophisticated models to improve performance of its Securities Lending business and is a global leader in this industry.
Why is your role important?
We are seeking an electronic trading strategist to join the Securities Lending Electronic Trading team in the New York office. Our team is responsible for the eTrading platform design, including data enrichment, quantitative research, trading algorithm development and platform development. Success in this role will require strong analytical and quantitative skills, evidenced by an advanced degree and experience in quantitative research. In addition, the candidate should possess the ability to collaborate effectively with a global team of traders, researchers and technologists, both within the Lending team and across the wider BlackRock community, and should possess strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
Lead ongoing development and enhancement of our electronic trading capabilities, working both on infrastructure and quantitative research projects
Monitor our electronic platform performance, and act as the primary line of defense/troubleshooter
Develop trading signals to improve systematic trading strategies and build metrics to evaluate trading performance
Improve the current suite of securities lending models and create proprietary models
Calibrate pricing and allocation algorithms in e-trading platform
Conduct data enrichment projects to explore alternative datasets and contribute new insights to alpha and investment research
Work closely with business stakeholders and technologists to improve the electronic trading system design and to deploy new models into production
Build close ties with traders, investors, risk managers and quant research teams across BlackRock
Skills/Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree is required, and Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline is preferred
Experience in e-trading or working with electronic venues highly desirable
Strong technical skillset with an understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques is required
Experience in working with large datasets is crucial
Programming skills required (Python or similar languages preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
High motivation to acquire new skills on the job
Strong sense of teamwork, contribute to and foster a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing
