About this role
As a MySQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing our databases. You will work closely with development and IT teams to ensure the reliability and performance of our database systems. This role is essential for supporting our data-driven projects and maintaining the integrity of our data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases.
- Collaborate with developers to design and implement database solutions.
- Maintain documentation for database configurations and processes.
- Stay up to date with the latest MySQL features and best practices.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
- Implement and manage database security protocols.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a MySQL Database Administrator or similar role.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and design. (Primary and Foreign Keys, data types, views, triggers, functions)
- Proficient in SQL and database performance tuning.
- Experience with replication, backup and recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with database security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Useful Skills:
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Percona Monitoring and Management).
- Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle) is a plus.
- Scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, etc.
