The Greenskeeper performs semiskilled work in the maintenance and repair of The Hill golf course and related facilities, and performs other related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.Shift: Monday - Friday, some weekends may be required. The Town of Blacksburg is an EEO Employer M/F/D/V
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Mows and trims greens, tees, fairways and rough with varying types of equipmentWaters, seeds, fertilizes, aerates, and chemically treats greens, tees, and fairwaysMaintains and repairs irrigation system; maps irrigation system, repairs electrical and computer control systemsRepairs and replaces broken water pipesClears brush and wooded areas; hauls sand, mulch, and debrisRemoves, cuts, trims, and transplants trees Removes leaves, debris, and snow on coursePlants and maintains flowers on propertyRebuilds and maintains sand trapsWorks on construction and maintenance projects which include operating various types of equipmentAssists with maintenance of all golf course equipmentRepaints all markers and signsFills in for coverage at the pro shop when needed
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force Work frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motionsWork has standard vision requirementsVocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken wordHearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levelsWork requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activitiesWork regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibrationWork is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic)
