The Pro Shop Assistant assists in the operation and maintenance of the municipal golf shop and golf course, assisting golfers, overseeing the preparation and maintenance of appropriate records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Golf Course Supervisor. Continuous supervision is exercised over all personnel within the team.
Additional pay is offered for work done in the following capacities:
- Tournament Management and Golf Club Repair: $3.00/hour
- Golf Instruction: $4.00/hour
- Social Media Management and Website design: $5.00/hour
Shifts are available weekdays and weekends, from 7:30 am to dusk.

- Assists in the daily operations of the municipal golf course and pro shop
- Collects and records class and facility registrations and fees, using the Point of Sale system
- Maintains the golf course and pro shop, as needed, including routine custodial maintenance and golf cart maintenance
- Helps enforce the rules and regulations for the golf course use
- Performs general administrative tasks including receiving and responding to inquiries and complaints, answering the telephone, sending and receiving email correspondence
- Provides customer service, direction, and assistance to customers
- Attends meetings and workshops as directed
- A general knowledge of the practices, methods, and policies used in municipal golf course operations
- The ability to perform tasks on a computer including tee time reservations, check-ins, retail sales, and to perform necessary reporting
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, associates, and the general public
- High School diploma or GED certification
- Knowledge of golf club repair and re-gripping, including equipment recommendations and fitting expertise
- Experience in assisting in organizing and directing golf tournaments and outings, including handicapping and scoring
- Experience planning and overseeing innovative golf programming, outings, tournaments, and special events
- Experience in developing and conducting teaching programs for adults and youth to attract new and existing golfers
- Experience in managing the golf course
- Experience in social media accounts, and develop engaging text, image and video content on various platforms
- Experience in managing the golf course webpage using integrated software and HTML design language
- Possession of Basic First Aid, CPR and AED certifications, training provided if needed
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, lifting and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing, walking and sitting and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, tasting or smelling and pushing or pulling
