Summary
As a Medical Billing Manager, you will oversee the billing department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims. Responsibilities:
- Oversee all billing activity
- Coordinate with other departments to gather billing data and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor billing projects and ensure each project is properly handled and followed up on.
- Resolve billing disputes and queries from customers, working with the appropriate teams to rectify issues.
- Manage total balances for EOD Stats
- Monitor and resolve payment discrepancies or payment errors.
- Assign daily tasks and set priorities for billing and payment posting managers.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs.
- Inspect the payment posting reconciliation with the bank deposits to ensure nothing goes unposted.
- Work with payors so all EOBs and remittance advices are coming electronically
- Liaise with Insurance Collections to ensure there are no claims on the AR that shouldn’t be there due to untimely posting.
- Review the ERLs and first time denial report to provide scorecard to Insurance Verifications and Authorizations weekly on the accuracy of their work
- Ensure the team follows established procedures and best practices for billing and payment posting.
- Generate and analyze billing and payment reports to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition.
- Identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies in billing or payment activities, and suggest corrective actions.
- Continuously review and improve billing and payment posting processes for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures to prevent errors in billing and payment postings.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, billing regulations, and relevant accounting standards in billing and payment activities.
- Work closely with customer service teams to address client concerns related to billing or payment posting.
- Stay up to date on billing trends and new software tools that could improve billing and payment processes.
- Conduct enrollments of new Insurance carriers or updated carriers so that all invoices make it through the clearing house as clean claims.
- Stay up to date on Payor billing policies and procedures and advise on policy changes if needed. Annually review the major carriers’ billing policies when they are updated to ensure that our SOPs still align with their expectations.
- Review notifications and updates from Availity to ensure we’re staying compliant.
- Lead any projects to respond to audits from insurance carriers.
- Implement software solutions to streamline the billing workflow.
- Work with the production team to make sure all patients tests are billed in a timely manner and nothing gets missed.
- Project billing on a weekly monthly basis for upper management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance
- Proficiency in billing software and electronic health records (EHR)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Experience in Brightree highly preferred
- Ability to manage a team and oversee billing operations efficiently
