Full Time Public Safety Dispatcher

Overview
The Public Safety Dispatcher plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the community. This position involves monitoring activities, dispatching police, fire and rescue to emergencies, and providing assistance to the public. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle various situations with professionalism and composure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor police, fire and EMS radio/telephone and dispatch appropriate resources to ensure safety and security.
• Conduct data entry related to incidents, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Perform phone triage to assess the urgency of calls and dispatch appropriate resources.
• Maintain effective phone etiquette when interacting with the public and emergency services.
• Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for mapping and reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other public safety organizations as needed.

Requirements

• Certification in First Aid is preferred; additional safety certifications are a plus.
• Proficiency in data entry with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience in dispatching or similar roles is advantageous.
• Strong phone etiquette skills to communicate effectively with callers.
• Ability to analyze information quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Familiarity with GIS tools is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.50 - $30.00 per hour
