In addition, the Student Information Specialist is expected to:

SIS:
-
Manage Student Information System (SIS) as well as assure privacy, security, and confidentiality of student and employee information through the development and implementation of processes and controls
-
Perform annual setup/configuration, which includes but is not limited to the calendar, scheduling, attendance, grades, photo imports, summer school, and report cards as well as ongoing maintenance of staff and student rosters
-
Serve as a liaison between the schools and Network team in regard to student information data collection and as the main point of contact for SIS system support for all stakeholders.

Gather feedback from school sites on the SIS to determine which components could be modified or added from the Network to meet school data needs.

Customize the SIS database and its various screens
-
Support deployment of SIS enhancements to schools (product upgrades, security changes, file definition, and table changes)
-
Handle Rhode Island state reporting and US Department of Education reporting including SIMS, SCS, EPIMS, SSDR, School Choice, SAC report, Civil Rights Data, etc.

Respond to requests for data and ensure all data quality standards are met
-
Develop & deliver SIS training for teachers and administrators
-
Organize and prepare system software documentation, procedures, and operational instructions to use in training and to promote efficient utilization of system software

Perform routine file management tasks, including transferring, loading, archiving, and converting data for purposes of managing and securing student information
-
Assist in the analysis of data, application, and system hardware errors to determine root causes.

Collaborate with cross-functional and school-based operations teams to streamline SIS-related data processes
-
Online platform integration:
-
Maintain SIS-educational app connections (Deanslist, Clever, Gradient, Canvas)
-
Serve as the point of contact with vendors for applications such as Clever, STAR Renaissance, iReady, LiveSchool, etc.

Assist administrators and staff with uploads of student and staff data for computer-based assessments and platforms and support troubleshooting for access to online platforms
-
Maintain expert-level knowledge of data access for all applications

Support Academics team’s District Testing Coordinator for all state and local standardized assessments
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred
-
2-3 years professional education technology experience supporting student information systems
-
Experience working in a diverse educational environment
-
Ability and proven track record for overseeing data collection, validation and reporting

Excellent attention to detail
-
Possess a high level of familiarity with FERPA and data privacy regulations
