Responsibilities and Duties: 1.Provide daily nursing/medical services to students. This includes but is not limited to dispensing of medicines, (OTC and prescription, according to state and school policy), assessment of the health needs of students, triage all incidents of illness/injury, initiate emergency medical services, crisis intervention, and referral to appropriate school counselors, SBHC, or other off-campus medical providers.
2.Identify health-related problems that impact the students learning process.3.Systematically observes, evaluates, and documents student responses to treatment plans and utilizes this information to facilitate learning.4.Encourages students assessment of their own health status.5.Track and monitor all student health and immunization records via Data management systems (SNAP software).6.Assist School Based Health Center with any school immunization program for students and coordination of annual Flu vaccination program for staff.7.Track and monitor student athlete physical records. Communicate status of each athletes physical with the Athletic Director or designee and staff prior to a students participation in school sport programs.8.Comply with all required training, student physical examination records, identification and reporting responsibilities under 105 CMR 200.00 regulations on Head Injuries and Concussions in Extracurricular Athletic Activities.9.In writing and orally, communicate clearly, understandably, and sensitively, in language appropriate to students age, level of development, gender, race, linguistic and socioeconomic background concerning individual health values, and needs.10.Listens, interacts, and collaborates with students, families, teachers, school administration, and health care providers in the community in a professional, respectful manner.11.Participation in after-school meetings for Crisis Team, Student Review Team (SRT) Wellness Committee, and School Based Health Center. 12.Collaborate with School Based Health Center Nurse Practitioner to complete mandated health screenings (SBIRT, Vision and Hearing.) 13.Demonstrates knowledge of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Section 504 plans that complies with state and federal laws. 14.Input Medicaid information into Nursing Data management systems (SNAPS) annually and file Medicaid reports monthly as appropriate.
