Our mission is to foster collaboration, strengthen local organizations, and create impactful violence reduction programs that promote long-term well-being and safety.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Program Officer to manage and nurture grantee relationships and lead nonprofit capacity-building efforts for community-based organizations in Delaware. The Program Officer will play a key role in ensuring that community-based organizations receiving ECVN funding are equipped with the technical assistance, resources, and developmental support they need to successfully implement violence reduction initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of community violence prevention, nonprofit capacity building, and effective program management. If you are someone who is deeply committed to reducing community violence, has a background in grants management, and excels at building strong relationships within the nonprofit sector, we invite you to apply!

  • Offer feedback to grantees, helping them improve program implementation and resolve any challenges they face.
  • Promote communication and collaboration between ECVN and its grantees to ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.

Technical Assistance & Capacity Building

  • Assess the technical assistance and capacity-building needs of grantees, identifying areas where additional support or resources are required.
  • Develop and implement tailored plans to address these needs, connecting grantees with appropriate resources such as training, expert consultations, and tools for improving program effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and peer learning opportunities to strengthen grantee organizations’ abilities to reduce community violence.

Grant Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure that all grantees comply with the terms and conditions of their funding agreements, including submission of accurate and timely reports.
  • Review financial, narrative, and outcome reports from grantees to assess progress and effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support to grantees as needed to help them meet reporting requirements and maintain compliance with ECVN standards.

Fundraising & Resource Development

  • Support ECVN’s fundraising efforts by identifying new resource opportunities for grantees and providing input on grant proposals and funding strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on donor communications, contributing to the development of grant proposals, impact reports, and fundraising campaigns that highlight the successes and needs of grantees.
  • Assist in identifying potential strategic partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as foundations and other organizations that can support the work of ECVN and its grantees.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as Public Administration, Social Services, Public Health, or Business Administration is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing community-based programs or grants, preferably in violence prevention, social justice, or public health.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of technical assistance, capacity-building strategies, and nonprofit development.
  • Experience with grant management, including budgeting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
