What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct: Dental Assisting Program position at Blackwood Campus?
- Teach Dental Assistant principals and skills to prepare students for the Certified Dental Assistant credential according to the Dental Assistant National Board (DANB) scope of practice in didactic and lab courses.
- Teach Dental Assisting principles and skills to prepare students for the NJ Registered Dental Assistant credential according to the NJ State Board of Dentistry Expanded Functions scope of practice in didactic and lab course.
- Teach Dental Radiology principles and skills to prepare students for the NJ Limited Radiology Technician-Dental credential according to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection scope of practice in didactic and lab course.
- Teach assigned theory and/or lab skill content areas in accordance with the College’s approved course description.
- Maintain course syllabus in accordance with student learning outcomes.
- Incorporate appropriate teaching-learning strategies, technologies, and assessment methods for evaluation of student learning.
- Observe and provide feedback to students during clinical proficiency on all dental assisting skills.
- Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping the College to achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of existing technology to further learning for students. Incorporate instructional technology to support the learning process.
- Communicate effectively, share vision, focus on people, initiate positive change, value differences and foster collaboration within diverse groups.
- Exhibit knowledge of current technology in the practice of dental assisting.
- Manage the learning environment with a student-centered focus. Implement diverse and equitable teaching and learning strategies that accommodate the learning styles of students.
- Follow accreditation guidelines and procedures as designated by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Follow department policies and procedures as designated by the Dental Assisting Program Coordinator and Dental Programs Director.
- Complete all mandatory compliance and safety training by Human Resources.
- Comply with all safety, fire and smoking regulations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching Methodology Courses
- Minimum 3 years of clinical dental experience
- Current N.J. CDA, RDA and Radiology (Active) License
- Experience teaching didactic and lab course
