Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and professional Patient Transport Driver to join the Bladder & Bowel Institute (BBI) team. This role is crucial for safely transporting patients to and from our ambulatory surgery center for their medical procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure that all transportation services are conducted in a safe, timely, and courteous manner, reflecting the high standards of care and professionalism BBI is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport patients between their place of residence and the BBI facility according to scheduled appointments
- Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness, reporting any maintenance needs
- Adhere to all traffic and safety laws, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during transport
- Maintain professional conduct and courtesy at all times, providing assistance to patients as needed when entering and exiting vehicles
- Manage schedule changes effectively and communicate with the Transportation Manager and relevant staff members promptly
- Ensure vehicles are cleaned, sanitized, and restocked with necessary patient care items after each shift
- Handle vehicle maintenance requirements and ensure vehicles are refueled and ready for use
- Comply with company policies regarding vehicle use, avoiding any unauthorized personal use or detours
- Maintain strict confidentiality and respect for patient privacy according to HIPAA regulations
- Adhere strictly to BBI compliance policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Experience in a driver role, preferably in a healthcare or patient care environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide a comforting presence to patients
- High level of reliability and professionalism
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required by patient schedules
- Physical ability to assist patients and handle patient care equipment
- Knowledge of local roads and routes
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety inspections
