The Computer Specialist provides foundational technical support and troubleshooting for the college’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the continuity of essential electronic services for students, faculty, and staff. This role assists with maintaining the security and functionality of computers, software, and basic network systems.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Support basic computer and software issues for users, including troubleshooting connectivity, software, and peripheral equipment issues.Assist with monitoring network infrastructure and performing initial diagnostics for network connectivity issues.Respond to basic cybersecurity incidents following established procedures.Configure basic network settings (e.g., IP, VPN) as directed.Support Active Directory user accounts and permissions in collaboration with senior IT staff.Provide support for online tools and SaaS applications used by the college, including email, video conferencing, and productivity software.Assist with the maintenance of the document imaging server (E-trieve).Collaborate with team members to ensure up-to-date knowledge and compliance with the college’s technology use policies.Participate in technology training to improve knowledge in cybersecurity, network monitoring, and troubleshooting.Assist with the installation, maintenance, and inventory of hardware and software across campus.Help IT staff with server provisioning and support for data closets as needed.Participate in team efforts to create disaster recovery and backup procedures.Engage in continuous professional development activities to expand IT knowledge and skills.Participate in college committees Other duties as assigned.
