The Director of Information Technology is responsible to provide vision, leadership, planning and management for the reporting, development, acquisition, implementation and support of information systems. Directs and coordinates activities of staff engaged in computer operations by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with BCC's mission and goals while serving as the college’s Chief Information Officer (CIO)Operational Oversight: Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring reliable and efficient service delivery.Collaboration: Foster partnerships with academic and administrative departments to understand their needs and identify improvement opportunities.Innovation: Explore and adopt innovative technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes.Data Governance: Establish and maintain data governance practices to ensure data quality, security, and accessibility.Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate IT risks to protect BCC's assets and reputation.Human Capital: Recruit, develop, and retain a talented IT workforce.Vendor Management: Manage IT vendor contracts and relationships.Policy and Procedure Development: Create and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards.Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in key committees, meetings, and college community activities.The CIO shall have experience with: Developing and implementing strategic and financial IT plans.Setting technical direction and leading technology adoption decisions.Providing technology and support services to enhance teaching and learning.Building effective organizations and fostering a culture of service.Managing core infrastructure (networks, data centers, servers, security, and storage).Improving data management and enhancing reporting and analytics capabilities.Sourcing technology services and managing vendor relationships.Improving IT service delivery.Establishing decision-making processes and overseeing large-scale projects.Managing budgets and financial resources.Leading and developing IT teams.Identifying and managing IT risks.Staying informed about emerging technologies.Addressing the challenges facing higher education, especially community colleges.Effectively working with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY - Provides direct supervision to the IT department staff. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
