Family Based Mental Health Worker
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Intensive Case Management Duties
- Intensive Case Management Duties
FBMH worker will provide ICM service to help families' access resources to meet basic
needs. Examples would include contacting agencies for financial help to pay rent, making a
referral to OVR to help family members' access job training, or providing transportation as
needed to meetings and appointments. - FBMH Worker will collaborate with other agencies that are involved with the client and/or
family regarding issues pertinent to treatment a minimum of one time per month. Examples
would include collaborating with a parent's therapist or having a team meeting to include a school
teacher, a CYS caseworker, or a Blended Case Manager. - FBMH Worker will make additional referrals throughout treatment when necessary for specified cases.
- FBMH Worker will collaborate with FBMH Therapist on providing updates to referral
agencies regarding progress of case. Progress reports will be provided on a as needed basis.
Updates will reflect all confidentiality standards and will be done with the expressed written
consent of the consumer. - FBMH Worker will be a part of the Discharge planning meeting with the family to decide
and make necessary referrals for aftercare.
Treatment
- FBMH Worker will participate in the formulation of initial assessments and treatment plans.
- FBMH worker will co-facilitate Home and Community based structural family therapy sessions with the FBMH Therapist for their caseload of 8 families. .
- FBMH Worker will provide 24 hour crisis availability over the phone when on call (once every 14 weeks).
Supervision/Training
- FBMH Worker will be provided weekly team and group supervisions.
- FBMH Worker will attend all trainings (virtually) provided by the Center for Family Based Training Center.
Administrative
- FBMH worker will document all contacts with consumers and other agencies on a progress note.
- FBMH worker, as part of the team, will be responsible for maintaining productivity requirements.
Requirements:
A Child Mental Health Worker shall do one of the Following
- Have a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation, pre-med, theology or anthropology plus 1 year of experience in a CASSP system program
- Have 12 College level semester hours in humanities or social services plus 1 year of experience in a CASSP system program and be enrolled for certification by OMH as a mental health family based worker
- Be licensed RN plus have 1 year of experience in a CASSP system program and be enrolled for certification by OMH as a mental health family based worker.
- Flexible schedule, including evening hours.
- Valid PA driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
- FBMH Worker will attend all trainings provided by the Center for Family Based Training as this will enhance the FBMH worker’s skills and understanding of the therapeutic process. Pre-approval by the Family Based Program Director or Clinical Supervisor is needed if a FBMH Worker is to not attend a training.
- May not be employed in another mental health program at Blair Family Solutions or elsewhere.
Other Qualifications

- All necessary child abuse clearances (PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and Federal Criminal History Clearance)
- Valid driver’s license
- Auto insurance
Working Conditions

- Work will be completed in a variety of conditions and settings, such as the client’s home.
