YMCA Summer Day Camp Counselor

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and engage campers in exciting activities like games, arts and crafts, sports, swimming and outdoor adventures.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.
• Serve as a role model by demonstrating YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Collaborate with fellow camp staff to ensure a safe, fun, and memorable summer for campers AND counselors.
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of PA Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations.
• Assist with the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.

• Parent Communication: Strong communication skills to provide parents with updates and address questions or concerns.
• Active Participation: Ability to participate in and engage with children in a variety of activities, such as: swimming, field games, walking, field trips, crafts, sports, and other recreational activities in a variety of summer weather conditions and environments.
• Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with fellow counselors, camp staff, and supervisors to create a supportive and unified environment.
• Reliability: Dependable and punctual, ensuring a consistent and positive experience for campers and other camp staff.

Qualification Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a high school diploma
• Must have at least 1 year of experience working with children OR college credits toward a degree in education or human services field
• Clearances required upon hire

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
