Blaire House of Worcester is seeking an energetic Activity Director certified by NCCAP to uphold our high standards for senior care!
Job Summary:
- Assists Executive Director with development of programs that fall within the operations plan and budget.
- Develops and implements programs, including social, travel, education, health, religious and recreational programs, for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for residents including those residents diagnosed in early stages of dementia.
- Creates, plans, schedules, and executes with residents, a calendar of events including evening and weekend programs which reflect residents' social, recreational, travel, educational and health interests and needs.
- Assists residents in daily recreational activities including: assistance with transporting resident chair users, resident's articles, such as shopping bags, etc. at a minimum of 15 lbs.
- Maintains all required record keeping pertaining to programs and transmits appropriate information to Executive Director.
- Develops and coordinates contracts with outside services related to programs such as travel agents, caterers, lecturers, entertainers, etc.
- Possesses genuine interest in working with the aged and demonstrates patience, kindness, and tact in dealing with them and others who work with them.
Qualifications:
- EDUCATION: A high school diploma is required. Ability to speak, read and write English. Ability to follow written and oral direction. College degree preferred.
- TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Experience coordinating group programs such as outings, group crafts, parties, and scheduling transportation and routing. Must possess a valid drivers' license.
- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Turns, crouches, kneels, stoops, bends below waist and reaches above head frequently; climbs stairs frequently. Lifts and/or carries supplies at a minimum of fifteen (15) pounds, occasionally. Pushes and pulls objects at a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, occasionally. Positions, turns and/or transfers individuals in excess of fifty (50) pounds occasionally. Uses sight and auditory senses to assess and observe safety and security of residents and staff.
