A Day in the Life of a Diesel Technician (but not limited to):
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related systems including transmissions, fuel systems, electrical components, and emission control systems.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of vehicles to identify necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and determine the root cause of mechanical issues.
- Follow OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guidelines and industry best practices to ensure high-quality repairs.
- Document and communicate all repairs, maintenance services, and findings accurately on repair orders.
- Test vehicles after repairs to ensure issues have been fully resolved and that the vehicle is operating as expected.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all safety protocols and using personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Collaborate with Service Advisors to provide accurate cost estimates and timelines for repairs.
Skill/Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- 3 years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles, preferably in a dealership setting.
- Comfortability with all makes and models of vehicles
- Valid Drivers License
- Time Management and the ability to work independently
- Physical demands include lifting 50 lbs with an extended period of time standing, sitting, and kneeling throughout the workday
