Well-established consumer packaged goods company has an immediate need for an Assistant Controller.
Role is hybrid, 3 days per week in office in our offices in South Orange County
Assistant Controller
140-$170K plus bonus
Qualified candidates will have 10 years of combined experience in both public and private accounting. A CPA license (active or inactive) and / or Big 4 is highly preferred
Position Summary :
The Assistant Controller will require proven technical and strong leadership skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment by overseeing and directing the financial control and month-end close activities of the General Ledger Accounting Team. The Assistant Controller performs a wide range of technical accounting and finance-related issues and interfaces regularly with other senior finance and operations team members.
In addition to this position’s core responsibilities, this person will be required to drive initiatives, identify new process improvement opportunities, and provide performance coaching and development for the team. This role has direct oversight of the General Ledger Accounting Team and will heavily interact and align with the FP&A and Global Transformation Teams.
Job Description :
- Responsible for ensuring accuracy in reporting and data across all corporate G / L accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems validating compliance with appropriate GAAP standards
- Work with Global Controller to coordinate year end audits, draft consolidated financial statements, review all balance sheet accounts and prepare schedules and analysis as required
- Drive month-end financial close process and review monthly account reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Understand, interpret and apply GAAP accounting standards to business transactions, including :
- Establish accounting policies, processes, procedures, and systems to ensure proper implementation and appropriate segregation of duties
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement change to increase efficiency, streamline workflow and controls
- Analyze and interpret financial data, recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance
- Maintain strong relationships with company management teams with the ability to explain complex financial issues clearly and concisely
- Effectively manage, develop, coach and mentor the accounting team including skills development, training and process improvement
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports or special projects as required
Experience & Requirements
Salary : $140,000 - $170,000
