Blake's Orchard is a family-owned business and operates a 1,000 acre farm that provides a wide variety of specialty crops to visitors all year long. Specializing in apples, pumpkins, Christmas trees, and many fruit and vegetables. Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide a supporting role to the farm manager.
- Operate farm equipment to assist in the planting, cultivation, production and harvest of a crops.
- Be a leader of farm team members to complete operational tasks.
- Perform record keeping of information needed to meet company and regulatory needs.
- Application of fertilizer and pesticides to prevent disease and promote quality crops
- Assist with food safety requirements
- Employee will be asked to assist in customer experience in our u-pick production.
- Scouting crops to identify pest, disease, and nutrition issues.
- Assist with Post harvest operation of produce.
- Weekend work may be requested in the months of April-November to meet the demands of the farm.
- This job has a requirement of 40 hours a week and hours may range up to 60 hours and 6 days a week during our peak busy times.
Required Education, Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), college degree preferred, 3 years related experience and; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in agriculture is required.
- Working knowledge of planting, cultivating and harvesting crops
- Experience operating farm equipment required
- Spanish speaking is a valued skill
- Must be willing to work in all types of weather including heat above 90 degrees, cold below 50 degrees, all forms of precipitation
- Dependability
- Experience with Microsoft products.
- Well organized
- Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
