What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sweet Cider Production Supervisor position at Blake's Orchard, Inc.?
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the management of the production employees and outputs of the floor. The Production Supervisor supervises, motivates, and holds accountable all members of the production team while accurately documenting all production and quality data as required. Utilizing and applying a team mentality and the Blakes Operating System methodology, the Production Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the press and packaging operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
General and Administrative
- Communicate effectively with management, and the Production Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that goals and objectives are met.
- Work alongside management team to work though issues and develop procedures to set the production team up for success.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the company’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement and respect for individuals.
- Supervise the staff to ensure compliance to the schedule, procedures and product specs.
- Play key part in maintaining employee morale, buy-in, and engagement.
- Achieve or exceed the production goals as presented by management.
- Maintain a positive Production Floor attitude and ensure that all employees under your supervision are aligned with the company goals.
- Follows all instructions (written and verbal) as given by Management.
- Possess a “can do” attitude to help elevate the standard on the production floor from production and quality standpoint.
- Enforce all Food Safety & Quality standards set forth to include, SQF, FDA, and MDARD regulation.
- Follow escalation procedures when a problem arises that cannot be resolved at the floor level.
Production Management
- Constant on the floor management of the department
- Ensure the team is fully engaged with you and understands what their daily tasks are and how to properly deliver.
- Learn each piece of equipment 100%. Serve as “expert” operator for all equipment and ensure all equipment is being run properly. Perform operator level PMs as needed.
- Assist with all continuous improvement initiatives.
- Hold team meetings to ensure the flow of information and objectives.
- Review all employee suggestions and improvements
- Maintain excellent facility cleanliness and sanitation standards to include compliance with SSOPs and Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Implement and enforce break schedule for all production staff.
- Oversee and document material usage to confirm compliance with BOM recipes and track and look to reduce waste where possible.
- Meeting or exceeding production volume goals as established by management.
- Daily tracking of production metrics as defined by management.
- All paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Conducts himself/herself in a professional and cooperative manner at all times.
- Product quality and consistency is of utmost importance, with complaints held to an acceptable minimum as established by management.
- Provides a high degree of cooperation and interaction with other employees and departments.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate a production operation with ten or more employees.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from various sources.
- Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent understanding of the principles of Production.
- Able to use Microsoft Office Applications
Working Conditions:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with some periods being loud.
- Must be able to remain standing for an entire shift
- Flexibility to work off shift during summer and fall based on business needs.
- Sat & Sun – Sept & Oct – 6 days, minimum 50 hrs/wk
