Blanton-Peale was founded in 1937 by the internationally renowned author of The Power of Positive Thinking, Rev. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, and psychiatrist Dr. Smiley Blanton who trained in psychoanalysis with Sigmund Freud. Position Summary: The Clinic Director for the Blanton-Peale Article 31 Mental Health Outpatient Treatment & Rehabilitative Services (MHOTRS) clinic is a senior leader at Blanton-Peale reporting to the President & CEO. The Director is a consummate clinical and administrative professional who leads the provision of holistic, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, quality mental health and wellness services and supports by an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychotherapists, psychoanalytic residents, MSW/MHC/MFT interns, peer specialists, and administrative staff. The Director’s commitment to quality care includes efforts to champion clinical education, training, supervision, and administration while cultivating a culture of caring and support for those served and supported by Blanton-Peale. The Director also serves as a representative of Blanton-Peale for conferences, taskforces, and community-focused events.

Work Schedule: This leadership role offers a flexible schedule of 4 days onsite with the expectation of one evening of coverage and the option for 1 day remote.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and Align Clinic Strategy and Systems:

• Champion the mission of serving New Yorkers by leading an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychotherapists/counselors, peers, and administrative staff.

• Supervise all aspects of clinic operations, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, holistic and interdisciplinary care, in full compliance with Office of Mental Health regulations and standards of care as well as best practices.

• Manage staffing structure, intake/client pipeline, therapist staffing approach, and community outreach strategy in collaboration with executive leadership.

• Develop a data-driven clinic revenue budget in collaboration with the CFO and corresponding management systems to monitor progress and ensure adaptability as needed for successful clinic fiscal management.

• Monitor best practices of care to ensure relevant clinic projects and initiatives are implemented in accordance with the mission, OMH regulations and guidance, as well as related compliance and fidelity.

2. Staff Leadership and Development:

• Manage hiring and supervision of clinic management and direct care positions, creating a culture of collaboration and accountability that ensures a smooth operational flow and evening and on-call coverage.

• Supervise the Assistant Director for Clinical Supervision and staffing of therapists (50 ) and the Psychiatrist/Medical Director for the supervision and staffing psychiatrists and nurse practitioners to foster a sense of community and teamwork.

• Supervise core clinic positions, including the Client Coordinator, Clinical Education Supervisor, and Clinical Administration Manager.

• Determine and coordinate appropriate staff trainings, including the clinical training and education of clinic staff and interns, as well as the BIPOC Mental Health Fellowship Program.

3. Client-Focused Operations and Care:

• Ensure all clinic operations are client-focused, strengths-based, holistic, and culturally responsive in a manner that inspires confidence in Blanton-Peale's clinical services, including intake processes, scheduling, client communication, and care planning.

• Establish and monitor systems to match client demand with therapist availability, operating with identified key performance indicators and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

• Contribute to risk identification and management, including both direct and indirect interventions, consultations, advisement, follow-up, and case conferences, High-Risk meetings, Incident Review Committee, plus on-call coverage coordination.

• Manage the development and implementation of clinic procedures and best practices, documented in a comprehensive clinic handbook and corresponding trainings.

• When needed, provide individual, couples, family, and/or group psychotherapy and mental health supports in a manner that reflects team-based collaborative interdisciplinary care.

Relationships:

• Direct Reports: Psychiatrist/Medical Director, Assistant Director, Clinical Education Supervisor, Clinic Administration Manager, and Client Coordinator.

• Inter-Departmental Relationships: Finance/Billing, Marketing & Development, and Graduate Institute programs (Contemporary Psychoanalytic Training Program, Psychoanalytic Society, Korean Care & Counseling Program, and Community Education.)

Qualifications:

• Licensed New York State Clinical Social Worker with passion and proven clinical skills providing individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy, plus credentials to allow for interdisciplinary clinical supervision.

• At least five years’ experience leading a mental health care practice or similar entity within a complex system of care (OMH MHOTRS clinic experience preferred)

• Extensive understanding of the range of mental health challenges, needs, strengths, and developmental stages across cultures and identities.

• Proficiency in evidence-based practices (i.e. Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Trauma-Informed Care.)

• A vision for the integration of holistic integrated mental health and spiritual care.

• Dedication to an inclusive and collaborative workplace.

• Bilingual/multilingual capacity a plus (but not required).

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $115,000-$125,000. Generous health insurance benefits, employer match for 403b retirement fund, life insurance, optional FSA, and paid time off.
