What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Professional Learning position at BLaST?
SUMMARY: This position will support the Division Director in coordinating professional learning opportunities and creating new entrepreneurial and innovative educational solutions. The position will also deliver in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid trainings and coordinate activities and meetings for educators regarding best practices, PA state initiatives, and specific district needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Provide customized training and consultation in curriculum, instruction, and assessment as part of a comprehensive staff development program for districts within the Intermediate Unit.
- Assist districts in implementing IDEA, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), The Pennsylvania Academic Standards, and Pennsylvania Statewide Assessments.
- Facilitate the development of our constituent Districts’ Strategic, Act 48 and Assessment plans.
- Understand the demands and demonstrate strong customer service delivery skills to maintain positive relationships, provide high-quality educational solutions, and resolve inquiries using professionalism.
- Coordinate professional learning opportunities for the Intermediate Unit.
- Collaborate with the Division Director to coordinate professional learning opportunities throughout the year to support regional needs.
- Coordinate and support grant-funded opportunities as assigned.
- Attend in-person or virtual, as needed, PDE, PaTTAN, and other mandated meetings.
- Supervise staff as assigned by the Division Director.
- Maintain a valid PA Driver’s license and be able to travel as needed to support regional and statewide needs.
- Developing and implementing other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- PA Certification in Education
- Relevant Supervisory certification preferred
- Project Management Certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Requires knowledge of curriculum, curriculum mapping, and the integration of curriculum with technology.
- Requires a working knowledge of IDEA, Chapters 14 and 342 (Pennsylvania Special Education Regulations), and research-based best practices as they relate to exceptional learners.
- Requires a working knowledge of Pennsylvania Academic Standards, the Statewide System of Assessment, and standardized testing.
- Requires extensive knowledge of instructional pedagogy, classroom-based assessment, and the adaptation of instructional materials to meet the needs of all learners.
- Requires an understanding of effective andragogy and the delivery of high-quality professional learning best practices.
JOB EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience at the K-12 level, experience with exceptional students preferred.
- Previous staff training experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Prior work in curriculum development, staff development, or other related experience.
