A fantastic school district in Kansas City, KS is seeking a full-time Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join the team.The successful candidate will provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign language systems
- Interpret signed language into spoken language
- Facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and teachers, staff, and other students
- Provide interpreting services in a variety of settings, including classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to support student learning and success
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on interpreting services provided
Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Interpreting
- Completion of an interpreter training program or equivalent experience
- Certification as a sign language interpreter
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing individuals
