To work as a Special Education Teacher in Michigan, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (ASD preferred).
- Possess a bachelors degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Complete a state-approved teacher preparation program.
- Pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in Special Education.
- Meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE) continuing education requirements.
We are looking for a Travel Special Education Teacher (SPED) for an Elementary Resource Room in Dearborn, MI for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. This position is designed for a Special Education Teacher based in or around Wyoming, MI, who is willing to travel to support students in need. Eligible candidates can receive taxed and tax-free compensation to cover duplicate expenses.
This is an immediate need, and we are looking for someone to interview and start quickly.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Provide direct instruction and interventions in an elementary resource room setting.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special needs.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws while documenting student progress.
- Certification Requirement: Special Education Teacher MUST be certified as an ASD Teacher (or have a Special Education Endorsement).
- Drug Screening: Must be able to pass a 9-panel drug screen; marijuana for medical or therapeutic purposes is not allowed.
- IEP Experience: Experience writing and implementing IEPs for ASD students in a resource setting is preferred.
- Position Duration: Full-time position through the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
