FLSA Status: Exempt (salary)
Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week. Some evenings and weekend hours may be required.
Reports to: Pastor
SUMMARY:
The Business Manager is responsible for the overall operational, fiduciary and administration functions of the Business Office, to include management of the facilities, plant operations for the parish, school and child development center. The Business Manager will work under the direct supervision of the Pastor in conjunction with the guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as the resource to the parish, school and child development center in all financial matters from planning to auditing
- Ensure maintenance of effective internal controls to assure safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements
- Reviews monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for parish, school and child development center as well as the Archdiocese of San Antonio as needed
- Assist in resolving accounting and financial problems and/or issues
- Ensure complete and up-to-date operating procedures for all accounting and financial controls
- Monitor the collection, counting, recording and depositing of revenue from all sources
- Prepare, administer and review the budget process to present to the pastor and Finance Council; assist in presenting the budget for Finance Council approval
- Ensure proper preparation for any required audits
- Review all receipts and disbursements; ascertain correct account distribution and ensure all support documentation and approvals are in order
- Assist in preparing special financial studies as required
- Assist in the planning of financial stewardship and long-range planning
- Directs the operation of the Parish Office. Schedules, supervises and evaluates administrative and maintenance staff.
- Consults with entities from Archdiocese of SA regarding matters of Property & Liability Insurance, Auto Liability, Worker's Compensation, Capital Projects, Financial Accounting and Human Resources
- Directs matters of Parish Plant & Facilities with an eye toward Safety
- Coordinates Parish Fundraising and community building events
- Supports the Pastor in fulfilling the day-to-day operational needs of the Parish regarding Administration, Personnel, Financial and Facilities management
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Pastor
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Person of faith and prayer who actively participates in Roman Catholic worship (may be satisfied by a person with knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and its mission)
- BA/BS required, MA preferred; CPA preferred or demonstrated equivalent in education and experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
- At least 5 years of nonprofit accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management systems
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Experience with various computer applications, specifically ParishSOFT, Paylocity, Microsoft Office, Outlook
- Previous management/ supervisor experienced required
- Previous experience performing HR functions or duties
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Licenses and Credentials
- Compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements.
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with various computer applications, specifically ParishSOFT and Paylocity
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
- Accurate recordkeeping and efficient filing skills.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church
- Thorough understanding of non-profit accounting, bookkeeping and financial management systems.
- Previous management/supervisor experience required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
Full-time office hours are Monday through Friday (40) hours per week. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
