Title: Furniture Coordinator
The primary job of the Furniture Coordinator is to help the Furniture Manager pursue the mission of Blessings Abound: A Christian not-for-profit dedicated to helping those in need through the resale and redistribution of donated items.
The Furniture Coordinator (herein “FC”) needs to be confident, reliable, and able to multi-task effectively. The ability to function in a team environment is essential as Blessings Abound is run by a mix of staff and volunteers. By nature, Blessings Abound has a lot of clutter. FC needs to be comfortable in an environment with a tremendous variety of inventory.
FC will work with Furniture Manager as needed, including customer support, loading furniture, donation pick-up, donation receipt, donation processing, furniture pick-up/delivery scheduling and pick-ups, and other duties as assigned.
FC is required to lift and move furniture, miscellaneous donations, and bags of clothing/linens in a safe manner.
Primary Accountabilities/Duties
- The FC will be stationed at the Furniture Desk for customer support.
- Support furniture customers with general customer service, delivery, and loading.
- Greeting and serving donors/customers
- Price furniture
- Deal with customer/donor’s issues, complaints, and questions as needed.
- Schedule delivery for furniture shoppers as needed
- Stock rug rack with new and used rugs
- Occasional coordination of volunteer efforts to support furniture area
- Represent Blessings Abound in a professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned by Furniture Manager, including furniture pricing, cashiering, customer service and help other team members at BA.
- Help answer store phone
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills. Ability to deal with shoppers from all walks.
- Respectful of all people, including donors, shoppers and volunteers. Energized by positive people interaction.
- Interest in working for a not-for-profit.
- Basic computer skills are required, including word processing, spreadsheets, and a basic understanding of social media.
- Trustworthy to handle high-value collectibles.
- A goal orientation and competitive spirit is helpful.
- A high school diploma is required. Some college training is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move furniture in a safe manner.
- Frequent standing and walking. The FC position includes regular physical lifting and moving of items potentially more than 50 lbs.
Other Requirements
- Current store hours are 9am-6pm M-SAT. The FC is expected to coordinate store coverage with the Furniture Manager.
- Reliable transportation.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.
