Position Summary
QC Trainee will travel to various construction project sites to perform testing of construction materials. Tasks include, but are not limited to sample collection, sample preparation, sample testing, field observations, and documentation of construction activities. The position requires the employee to clearly identify, verbally communicate and document test results and activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Roadway Construction Testing: temperature, layer thickness, compacted in place density and sampling.
- Perform sampling and testing of stock aggregates; including gradation, gravity absorption, and crush counts.
- Obtain samples and assists in performance of routine HMA tests in field and laboratory. Field tests include use of field density gauge and core machine.
- Transports equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients, or other offices.
- Provides physical assistance in equipment setup.
- Clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assists other technicians or professional staff on routine tasks.
- Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Document and communicate non-conforming items to designated supervisor.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Education/Experience
- High School Degree or GED.
- Experience in the Construction Testing Field preferred, not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Work Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have valid driver’s license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program.
- Regular lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Be able to obtain Material Sampler Certification.

- Work environment primarily at construction sites with the possibility of challenging terrain and outdoor weather conditions.
