2. Accountability:
Overall operation of the BLG plant including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, delivery, cost morale and environment | |
Decides on the direction the plant will take in terms of priorities, objectives and continuous improvement | |
Is responsible for the salaried and hourly workplace behavior, integrity and ethics |
3. What contacts are required with other organizations?
Customer Management and Executives | |
Tier 1 suppliers and indirect material suppliers and key service providers to the Plant | |
Other plants and groups within BLG Logistics |
4. Guidance and direction received:
All customer dissatisfaction including production downtime, repeat quality issues and any personal issues | |
Matters relating to finances that will have a negative impact on the plants cost performance | |
Requests for funding that exceed the Director of Operations’ authorization for both capital and expense items. | |
When assistance is required from other parts outside of the actual plant’s control eg. Business development, account management, finance, loss prevention | |
Hiring and restructuring / termination in certain situations |
5. Knowledge required:
Managerial experience at various levels within BLG and/or other manufacturing locations | |
Manufacturing / logistics background in the automotive industry is preferred | |
Job experience in a Tier 1 operation is beneficial | |
A production, materials and quality control background compliment skill set | |
A college or university degree related to manufacturing is preferred and / or MBA |
6. Problem Solving Required:
Determining the direction the plant will take in terms of quality, cost and people | |
Getting required resources to participate in the resolution of repetitive issues from planning to execution c/w follow-up | |
Identify and eliminate past practices that may impact the financial well-being of the plant | |
Plan and execute the concepts of lean manufacturing | |
Identify business opportunities going forward | |
Support the customer through integral analysis of logistical/production issues and develop corrective actions as needed |
7. Safety
Responsible for implementation and adherence to the SafeWork | |
Functional responsibility to ensure the work environment is safe at all times | |
Provides approval on revision / changes to the SafeWork Program as needed. | |
Works with the HR Manager and the Plant Engineer to support JHSC and compliance with all regulations and policies regarding SafeWork. |

Flexible – able to work overtime or varying shifts as required to support the demands of the business |
