Job Description: Inside Sales / Dispatcher
Job Summary: The Inside Sales / Dispatcher position will assist customers and contractors with orders and purchases, identifying requirements and alternatives, advise and recommend additional products, and calculate quantities and pricing. This position will provide a high level of customer service to all vendors, customers, potential customers, and all business partners to ensure a good working relationship. As Dispatcher you will organize the daily delivery schedule to best utilize and economize manpower, equipment, and other company resources. Provide scheduling to accommodate customer requirements and requests, within reason.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Counter / Inside Sales
Greet, service, and direct customers and contractors
Receive, answer, and transfer incoming calls professionally and promptly
Handle transactions through the register, receive and execute paid on accounts, tenders appropriate change and receipt
Assemble or match vendors shipping documents with order, file purchase orders/buck-slips, acknowledgements of vendor invoices
Execute sales invoices, including credit cards, extend priced invoices
Enter inventory to database as required
Recommend and exercise inventory control, maintain stock
Assemble and place orders
Assist with estimating-takeoffs, pricing, extending, calculatingetc.
Maintaining price books, catalogues, reference materials
Maintain, organize a neat, clean work area and assist fellow employees with housekeeping
Report all injuries and incidents as they are identified
Maintain security and confidentiality of all data and information developed and exposed to, as well as physical security of property
Develop and maintain product knowledge
Listen to and handle minor complaints with the objective of solving the problem
Dispatcher
Provide drivers with loading, unloading, and load assembly paperwork, in a timely fashion
Applies knowledge of service areas to dispatch sufficient trucks to ensure delivery schedules are met
Utilizes delivery software, programs, internet, and email applications to ensure proper delivery scheduling
Inform customers of their service status according to delivery schedules as needed
Schedule drivers and materials for required loads to be dropped off at, residential homes, job sites or at another Bliffert Lumber location
Schedule PM and required repairs to forklifts, trucks, and other equipment
Communicates with management, sales, drivers, and customers on any issues with deliveries
Notifies customers when their orders and special orders have arrived and are ready for pick up, or when to expect delivery of items, as appropriate.
Reviews documentation submitted by drivers each day to ensure pre-trip inspections are properly completed
Manage vehicle fleet, including repair and maintenance logs and documentation
Works directly with suppliers, customers, and freight carriers to resolve issues, problems, and order discrepancy issues in a professional and timely manner
Assist yard personnel with loading and unloading trucks when necessary
Maintains current industry knowledge through publications and legislation, and shares pertinent information with personnel as appropriate
Advise manager of low inventory levels
Other duties and responsibilities as required
Required Qualifications
Two years of experience in construction or building materials industry
Knowledge of building materials
Personable and strong communication skills
Strong trouble-shooting skills
Able to lift 75lbs occasionally, in a consistently safe manner
Bend, stoop, or squat on a repetitive basis
Ability to read and use measuring materials
Time-management and prioritization skills
Detailed oriented
Have an understanding of basic math
Ability to pass a background check, drug test
Valid Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications
Great organizational skills
Strong computer skills and basic knowledge of POS systems
