What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Management Instructor position at Blinn College?
Provide the expertise and knowledge to teach non-credit and credit courses in the Construction Management. This includes the use of: Building Materials, Hand and Power Tools; Implementing Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Site Layout; HVAC Equipment Installation and Repair; Plumbing, and Materials associated with Facility Maintenance and Construction Management.
Essential Duties
Teach non-credit and credit classes; continuously review curriculum and methods to improve the quality of instruction; use a variety of hands-on teaching methods to train adults; evaluate student progress and constantly communicate with students and Blinn administration; keep accurate student records and certification files; other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Technology, Architecture, Drafting, Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field with 3 three years of non-teaching work experience in the field. OR Associate degree or higher in another field with 5 years of non-teaching work experience in the field. *Must hold current NCCER teacher certification in teaching discipline or be able to complete within the first 30 days of employment.
Preferred Experience and Training
Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Technology, Architecture, Drafting, Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field with 5 years of non-teaching work experience in the field. *Must hold current NCCER teacher certification in teaching discipline or be able to complete within the first 30 days of employment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use a variety of hand tools and carpentry specific tools; able to climb ladders to heights of at least 20 feet; able to lift 50 pounds to a height of three feet; able to perform all normal and expected duties of a carpenter
Required Degree, License or Certifications
An associate’s degree and at least three years of demonstrated competencies in construction management. Must hold current NCCER teacher certification in teaching discipline or be able to complete within the first 30 days of employment.

Leave time includes 96 hours vacation, 40 hours discretionary and 16 hours personal each year and 8 hours sick each month. Paid leave for college designated holiday’s, spring break, Thanksgiving and Christmas break (approx. 25 days per year)
