Love the sun, sand, and being outside? The Barbara Beach Club is a pop-up paradise opening on East Beach in Santa Barbara. We are hiring a Front Desk Lead to lead the reservations process and guest experience with an awesome team.
We offer lounge chairs, cabanas, beach games, and a mini-market, creating the ultimate seaside hangout. As the Front Desk Lead, you’ll be the first point of contact for guests - helping with check-ins, handling rentals, answering questions, and keeping things running smoothly. You’ll need to be friendly, knowledgeable, organized, a problem solver and great with team and guests, leading and mentoring support staff. You’ll also assist with opening and closing duties and support the Club Manager as needed.
Seasonal / 30-40 hours per week ~mid April-October with the aspiration of starting back in March
Responsibilities
- Front Desk Lead may fill opening, closing or midday shifts
- Perform front desk opening tasks, including but not limited to the setup of merchandise, POS system and signage
- Serve as the primary point of contact for guests at the front desk.
- Greet guests and respond to guest requests in a timely, friendly manner
- Be knowledgeable about all package details, rental and sale items, answering questions to inquiring guests, selling and upselling where possible
- Efficiently use onsite tablet and booking system for pre-reserved and walk-up guests, gathering guest details and payment details, getting to know guests
- Assign guests to field lounges based on availability and needs
- Facilitating guest add-on requests for equipment, food / bev and merchandise
- Handle credit card transactions accurately and efficiently
- Communicate with Beach Attendants for escort and turnover needs
- Ensure the front desk is stocked at all times with needed rentals, including towels, and merchandise, maintaining a clean and organized space and offering
- Ensure Front Desk is attended at all times
- Perform front desk closing duties in line with daily Breakdown protocols and Field Lead delegations, including the safe storage of merchandise and front desk equipment
Qualifications:
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions
- Experience in hospitality, events, food & bev industry
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Effective listening, interpersonal, and guest service skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and procedures
- Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve guest complaints effectively
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in the sun and sand
- Ability to stand for up to 5 hours at a time
- Must have physical stamina to lift moderate weights up to 30lbs
- Ability to push and pull heavy amounts of weight up to 60lbs
- Ability to perform tasks that require gripping, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, carrying, walking
