About the Role:
The Quality Control Chemist III possesses a mastery of analytical instrumentation and analytical chemistry principles. Must be proficient in troubleshooting in the lab, discovering errors during review, writing experimental design, interpreting data; as well as reading and understanding USP-NF. Must possess the ability to understand and write laboratory assessment/investigation with little to no corrections, interview laboratory personnel to determine root cause and define effective corrective action. The candidate must be able to plan, organize, and complete projects independently on time with little to no delays. Candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills with various functional areas, project managers, and laboratory colleagues.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Master the ability to perform analytical instrumentational testing to support finished products and raw materials testing in a regulated environment free of user errors.
- Master the analytical chemistry principles and instrumentation behind the laboratory testing to aid in troubleshooting his/her own or colleagues' testing issues.
- Proficient with wet chemistry analysis and master the analytical chemistry principles behind the analysis in order to successfully troubleshoot testing and provide insight during laboratory investigations.
- Master ability to read and understand USP-NF.
- Master understanding of cGMP requirements with little to no unplanned deviations.
- Master the Stability program.
- Master the organization QMS program to create documentation free from error, while meeting retrieval requirements and following record keeping procedures.
- Master ability to understand and perform calculations as required in BAP and in compendial methods and perform statistical evaluation during results calculation.
- Proficient in discovering calculation errors during data peer review, and documentation errors when reviewing peer documents.
- Master ability to write Experimental Design and how to interpret data.
- Master the ability to understand requirements under laboratory assessment and investigation.
- Master ability to write laboratory assessment/investigation with little to no corrections.
- Proficient at effective communication skills for interactions with laboratory colleagues, project managers, and colleagues from numerous functional areas.
- Proficient at listening actively and readily assumes responsibility for actions. Leads by example. Proficient at managing tactical steps to push projects forward. Demonstrates high standards of ethics and fairness. Creates culture of mutual trust and caring.
- Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities, as may be required by the Supervisor and/or Manager, Quality Control.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline with 3-5 years of applicable laboratory experience preferable in the cosmetics/pharmaceutical OTC industry.
- Knowledge of computerized data acquisition and analysis systems, such as Waters Empower or PE Totalchrom is required.
- Complies with all safety standards while on Company premises and during performance of job functions.
- Must possess a good understanding of the safety standards and hazards associated with a Quality Control environment.
- Must be flexible to work modified work shift, as departmental needs demand.
- Must be discreet with confidential information of which he/she has access.
- Willingness to accept other duties, as assigned.
Additional Qualifications
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills in Business English (spelling, grammar, and punctuation, etc.).
- Computer literacy in a Windows environment is required. Familiarity with Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, function as a team player, accept constructive criticism from management, and comply with Company policies.

Compensation
The base pay for this position ranges from $67,000 to $72,000 annually. Pay is based on a number of factors including job related knowledge, skills and experience. The job role is eligible for a discretionary bonus that may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
