Our team of passionate developers is growing.As the Design Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of exciting, memorable Diablo campaign content. From early brainstorming through iterations into final polish, you will work with your team and partner with other project leaders to serve the needs of the game and the community.This role is anticipated to be either an on-site or hybrid position. The potential home studio locations for this role are Albany, NY, or Irvine, CA.Responsibilities : Oversee the creation of an exciting, memorable campaign and fast-paced action combat, guiding multiple development teams in implementing iconic, fun, and highly variable gameplay.Work with designers and cross-discipline feature teams to bring the world of Diablo to life.Manage teams to develop legendary campaign and combat experiences, working closely with other discipline leaders to maintain a shared vision and solve complex problems.Uphold a player-first approach, driving the team with a passion to understand and deliver to our dedicated game community.Develop best practices to ensure continuous evolution with the industry while retaining the core elements that make Diablo great.Champion Blizzard culture, influencing the shaping of our design values and projecting them to the industry at large.Minimum Requirements : 10 years of professional game design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role within the gaming industry.Proven ability to lead and inspire design teams, championing design craft while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.Deep understanding of ARPG gameplay and player motivations.Strong project management skills and ability to maintain a strategic vision.Expertise in solving design discipline problems and mentoring others in game design.Extensive breadth and depth of knowledge on navigating through emerging game genre advancements and complex business situations.Extensive professional experience with AAA game engines such as Unreal and Unity.Solid background in narrative design, scripting, or combat design.Strong documentation skills and strategies to effectively communicate and promote your designs.Familiarity with user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.Active player of various ARPGs.Your Platform : Best known for iconic video game universes including Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, and StarCraft, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
