As a server lead on the Overwatch team, you will be part of a hardworking and passionate team developing world class server technology, unlocking the potential of our engineers, designers and artists to create compelling and exciting features and keep players engaged for years to come.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges involved with authoring game server infrastructure, features and systems, comfortable leading a team of engineers and collaborate closely with other internal teams.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities :
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Lead Software Engineer on the Overwatch team, you will :
- Provide Technical Direction : Guide the server infrastructure team in developing innovative solutions, setting technical standards, and ensuring the high quality of server technology.
- Personnel Management : Oversee the server engineering team, including task assignment, performance evaluation, and career development of team members.
- Engineering Leadership : Take an active role in the teams leadership, representing the server engineers in interdisciplinary discussions and decisions.
- Continuous Improvement : Own and drive the process of continuous enhancement for the server engineering team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
- Collaboration : Work closely with engineers, producers, designers, and other internal partners to implement features and enhance the Overwatch platform, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
- Task and Schedule Management : Collaborate with other leads and producers to establish tasks, schedules, and priorities, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
- Relationship Management : Maintain effective and productive relationships with key internal partners, facilitating clear communication and collaboration across departments.
