What are the responsibilities and job description for the Redeemed Homestead House Parents position at BLOC Ministries?
Overview of BLOC Ministries:
We are an inner city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 80 where we have after school programs, sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, two coffee shops, screen printing, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors.
Overview of Redeemed Homestead:
Seeking married Christian couples for full-time, live-in position. Redeemed Homestead is a safe home, licensed by the state of Ohio, for girls ages 11-17 who have been victims of sex trafficking. Located on the eastside of Cincinnati, The Homestead creates physical distance from the areas where these young women are experiencing trauma while giving them a peaceful environment to heal. As a program of BLOC Ministries, our goal is to promote transformational physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing for each of our residents.
Position Summary:
Redeemed Homestead provides an environment promoting redemption, education, and empowerment for each young woman who enters our family. The Homestead will maintain smaller numbers served at one time, in order to encourage stronger connections among the residents and with staff. This also cultivates peer accountability, empathy and social-emotional learning.
As vital members of our team, the Redeemed Homestead live in House Parents will play a key role in the daily operations of our facility, ensuring excellence in maintaining structure and operations. This position is responsible for upholding regular policies and procedures, providing transportation for various activities, and attendance at required staff meetings and training are essential duties. The House Parents will also support youth with schoolwork and impart independent living skills. In terms of creating a positive environment, the House Parents will actively seek to foster a Christ-centered atmosphere, providing residents with positive and supportive interactions. Being physically, emotionally, and mentally present with residents is a crucial aspect, along with following safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and security of all residents. Collaborating effectively as a team with the resident director, case workers, and coordinator will ensure cohesive care, creating a supportive and nurturing environment for those in need.
This is a full-time, live-in position and will not work for those who currently have children living with them. This is an ideal position for empty nesters, or couples with experience in foster care, student or young adult church ministry, or who’ve raised teenagers of their own.
Skills and Qualifications necessary:
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License
- Must submit and pass a background checks
- Mature relationship with Christ
- Ministry-minded and ability to engage non-Christians from various backgrounds
- Trauma informed training a plus
- Astute communication skills
- General knowledge of the human trafficking field and effects of sexual exploitation a plus
