Bloodworks NW is currently hiring several LLT Specialists to join our fast-paced team! We will provide paid training.   POSITION PURPOSE: This position is responsible for supporting all Bloodworks NW departments and Hospital customers by providing reliable and efficient transportation services and managing the receipt and distribution of incoming shipments to ensure an accurate audit trail while positively representing Bloodworks NW to internal and external customers.   Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Fully participate as a member of the Laboratory, Logistics, and Transportation (LLT) department and Bloodworks teams by ensuring interactions with colleagues promote collaboration and effective communication. Perform the following LLT functions as described below:   Courier Proficiently perform all assigned courier duties including transporting blood-related products, supplies, and business-related materials between  Bloodworks NW labs and its local area hospital clients. Ensure full compliance with the standards outlined in the Bloodworks Vehicle Safety and Training Policy when operating or riding in company vehicles. Fully participate as a member of the Laboratory Logistics and Transportation department and Bloodworks teams by ensuring interactions with colleagues promote collaboration and effective communication.   Laboratory Aid Receives and processes requests for routine and emergency testing. Evaluates specimens and requests for patient identification and suitability for pre-transfusion and other serologic testing, following laboratory policies. Accurately maintains an audit trail for incoming and outgoing packages and calls. Meticulously performs data entry for patients and donors into appropriate databases. Troubleshooting of unacceptable specimens and appropriately documenting outcomes.   Dispatch Perform dispatch responsibilities for local and regional transportation according to the appropriate priority. Operate computer systems relevant to the work performed in the department at this level including, Access, BBCS, IQVIA, and PC applications. Report incidents involving unusual circumstances or failures to follow standard operating procedures. Communicate and appropriately escalate concerns. Ensure that high-quality work is performed. Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as written. Perform other duties as assigned.   REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent. One year of customer service and/or data entry experience.   Specific job skills include, but are not limited to:    Possess and maintain a driver's license for at least 3 years. Valid State Driver's License in the State of Washington, with an acceptable driving record. Use of a company or personal vehicle for company business requires an acceptable driver's record as defined by the vehicle policy. Must meet MVR standards required by Bloodworks Vehicle Safety and Training Policy. Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug/chemical dependency test and comply with departmental Drug & Alcohol Policy and pre-hire background check. Ability to lift to 60 pounds. Must be able to adjust to a variety of vehicles. Computer skills including data entry and word processing. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. Required mental activities involve frequent use of teamwork, interpersonal skills, the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English, the performance of accurate proofreading and correct spelling, and the use of computer systems to document receipt and distribution of shipments. Required mental activities used less frequently include decision-making, customer service, independent judgment and/or independent action, the performance of basic mathematics, and the use of discretion and problem analysis. Other mental activities required include safe communication on cell phones, pagers, voice mail, e-mail,        text messaging and possibly other electronic devices, safely operate various BWNW vehicles, and use PC’s to        obtain directions and maps, and read and document understanding of policies, procedures, and instructions. Required physical activities include standing, frequent entering, exiting, and driving various BWNW vehicles, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, pushing, pulling, and lifting articles of various shapes, sizes, and weights.  Required physical activities used less frequently include bending, and reaching (used occasionally); stooping, and kneeling (used rarely). The ability to operate a motor vehicle, push and pull up to a maximum of 250 lbs at a time. To obtain access to some client facilities, the incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain clearance to access the client property.  This clearance process may require the incumbent to undergo additional levels of screening beyond Bloodworks’ required pre-employment screening. Significant manual dexterity is required to operate various instruments and to perform required data entry quickly and with a high degree of accuracy.  Attention to detail is critical.   WORKING CONDITIONS   Telecommuting is not offered in this role. This is a highly regulated position and is subject to meeting various regulatory agency and accrediting body rules and regulations (FDA, AAB, CLIA, Cap, etc). As this is an essential position with direct responsibility to donors and/or patients, the incumbent should be prepared to work extended and/or consecutive shifts and/or possibly at a different location during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts/hours is required. Job conditions to be expected include substantial overtime, and on-call status (frequent); frequent standing, extensive close work with computer screens, and (occasional) sleep deprivation. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Bloodworks is a community-supported non-profit organization.  As such, from time to time incumbents can expect to work with volunteers. This position has direct exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Position requires some overtime, on-call status (occasionally), and evening meetings (rarely). Staff may be contacted on their regular days off to ask if they are willing to switch shifts. Staff can expect to be reassigned in circumstances where there is a need for short-term shift coverage when the employee schedule is released. Variable schedule, LLT Specialists: This job requires work at varying days and hours with mandatory overtime as needed to support the community transfusion needs. This may include evening and weekend hours. Each shift will be scheduled within 12 hours. The 12-hour period may shift with sufficient notice. Staff will be expected to fill in for daily schedule openings or changes (adjustments start/stop time). While declination of these changes is not permitted, arrangements may be made for late arrivals/early departures.   Benefits and Perks: Employees regularly scheduled for 24 hours per week are covered by medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, with family coverage also available.
