Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review patients chart prior to visit and ensure supplies/equipment are prepared for each clinical visit
- Set-up and maintain equipment and supplies in designated rooms
- Provide instruments/supplies during treatment procedures as indicated by DDS
- Explain procedures as they are completed to patient. Follow up with staff at facility to review recommendations for patient
- Enter chart notes for treatment at the time of treatment; review chart notes for accuracy
- Performing coronal polish, applying sealants, administering anesthesia, and applying fluoride
- Assist DDS in ensuring that OSHA safety and cleanliness regulations are followed during patient treatment
- Ensure disposables are handled correctly before leaving facilities.
- Review chart notes/referrals and leave printed copies with facilities for patient charts
- Work with clinical coordinator on schedule and follow up of patient care and treatment
- Maintain dental equipment through regular cleaning and maintenance routines
- Inventory supplies and order as needed.
- Follow regulated OSHA guidelines in handling and sterilization of instruments.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of general principles of dentistry and advanced knowledge of dental assisting
- Strong patient and customer service skills
- Highly motivated with strong attention to detail
- Great sense of teamwork and a passion for the job
Education/Certification/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- 1 years of experience as a dental assistant
- Current Indiana Radiology License/Certification (Required)
- Current EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) certification required per individual state regulations
- Dental Assistant certification as required by state; ability to become certified
- Any Open Dental experience is great!
