Position Summary
Budtenders are employed by medical or recreational cannabis dispensaries to assist customers with their purchases. They recommend suitable cannabis products, address customer concerns, and ensure that sales floors are adequately stocked.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Budtenders’ duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Customer Service & Sales:
- Interacting with customers in a warm and friendly manner.
- Answering questions about cannabis, including consumption methods, strain differences, and tools.
- Assisting customers in selecting and purchasing cannabis products based on their preferences and needs.
- Educating customers on responsible cannabis use and harm reduction strategies.
- Verifying customers' age or medical status as required by law.
Operations & Compliance:
- Ensuring the sales floor is stocked, organized, and maintains an awareness of inventory levels.
- Weighing, packaging, and maintaining cannabis products.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store.
- Staying up to date with cannabis-related legal restrictions and compliance requirements.
- Processing transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale systems.
- Handling cash and credit card transactions securely.
- Lifting up to 10lbs when opening and closing the store to display or store product.
Compensation and Scheduling
Budtenders are paid hourly and may be hired for:
- Part-time (PT): 4-29 hours per week.
- Full-time (FT): 30-40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as needed.
Schedules may vary based on store needs.
