Bloom is seeking a passionate and results-driven Community Outreach Specialist to play a key role in cultivating corporate relationships, as well as in-kind and monetary donations. This position is critical to expanding our network of supporters, building meaningful relationships with businesses and individuals, and increasing Bloom's capacity to serve foster children in need. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a talent for relationship-building, strong communication and organizational skills, and a heart for helping others.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).
- 2 years of experience in community outreach, fundraising, corporate partnerships, or a related role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships and secure donations from businesses and community partners.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Passionate about the mission of Bloom and supporting foster children.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with donor management or CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect).
- Experience with social media platforms and digital outreach is a plus.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Community Outreach Specialist plays a key role in developing relationships with corporate partners, local businesses, and community organizations to secure in-kind and financial donations that support Bloom's mission. This position focuses on building partnerships, coordinating the collection and management of donated goods and services, and representing Bloom in the community to increase awareness of its programs and needs. The role also involves maintaining communication with donors to ensure ongoing engagement and documenting outreach efforts to measure and improve effectiveness.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop Corporate Partnerships:
- Identify and build relationships with corporate partners to secure sponsorships, grants, and in-kind donations.
- Create compelling proposals and presentations that align corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals with Bloom’s mission.
- Collaborate with companies to establish long-term partnerships and mutually beneficial opportunities.
- Execute team building volunteer events both at Bloom and throughout the community to build relationships.
In-Kind Donation Coordination:
- Actively seek donations of goods and services, such as clothing, school supplies, toiletries, and other items needed for foster children.
- Build relationships with local businesses, retailers, and community organizations to secure ongoing in-kind contributions.
- Recruit, cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners that are willing to host collection drives and/or a donator collector bin for the Bloom Closet.
- Ensure proper CRM documentation internally and report new relationships to the development team.
- Complete all necessary follow-up and appreciation activities for in kind donations.
Community Engagement:
- Represent Bloom at networking events, community meetings, and outreach activities to raise awareness about our programs and needs.
- Develop and deliver presentations to businesses, civic groups, and other potential supporters.
- Act as a liaison between Bloom and the community to strengthen relationships and expand our donor base.
Corporate/Business Stewardship:
- Work with Development Director to maintain ongoing communication with corporate/business donors and sponsors to keep them engaged and informed about the impact of their contributions.
- Collaborate with Development Director to plan and coordinate appreciation initiatives, such as thank-you events or recognition programs, to acknowledge donor support.
Data Tracking and Reporting:
- Track outreach activities, donor interactions, and contribution outcomes using Bloom’s donor management system.
- Prepare reports to measure the success of outreach efforts and identify areas for improvement.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- This position is a part-time, hourly position working 24 hours per week.
- Occasional night and weekend work and ability to travel throughout metro Atlanta.
