About the Job:
The Facilities Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks related to plumbing and other trade-specific disciplines. This includes troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks, as well as training, leading, and supervising less skilled tradesmen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks related to plumbing and other trade-specific disciplines;
- Instructing, training, leading, and supervising less skilled tradesmen;
- Providing excellent customer service;
- Purchasing supplies as needed to perform work;
- Coordinating and performing quality control of contractors hired to perform plumbing maintenance repairs;
- Preparing job estimates and prioritizing materials, time, and labor required to complete assignments;
- Receiving and accurately recording all work performed in the District electronic work order system;
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles assigned, and ensuring safe use and maintenance procedures are followed;
- Performing all work using proper personal protective equipment (PPE);
- Assisting the Facilities and Maintenance Manager in planning projects;
- Serving as a consultant to the supervisor in areas of expertise;
- Complying with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the BSD Employee Standards of Conduct and upholding and enforcing rules, administrative directives, and regulations;
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent;
- Trade or vocational school training in plumbing or a related field;
- A minimum of six years of experience in the plumbing trade, with certifications or licenses in areas such as journeyman plumber, journeyman gas fitter, and licensed backflow prevention inspector;
- Extensive knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in the trades;
- The ability to read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams, and construction drawings;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines;
- Knowledge of all applicable plumbing and mechanical codes;
- The ability to maintain valid New Mexico Journeyman Gas and Plumbing licenses, as well as a Licensed Backflow Prevention Inspector certification;
