Location: Carmen Arace Intermediate School/Metacomet
Work Year: Twelve-month position 7 hours/day - 35 hours/week
Salary Range: $50,000-$54,600
Reports To: District Coordinator of Extended Learning and Family and Community Engagement
Position Summary: The Afterschool Academic Enrichment Program Coordinator assists in the development and implementation of afterschool programs that foster academic achievement, personal growth, and community engagement. The Coordinator works collaboratively to align with school-day objectives and provides a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Assist in the implementation of activities that align with academic goals and promote varied youth engagement opportunities.
- Staff Management: Supervise staff, ensuring quality programming and professional growth, teachers/non-certified staff support (including management issues related to timesheet submittal to payroll)
- Community Partnerships: Collaborate with community partners to enhance program offerings, day to day needs and participate in workshops and events. (Bloomfield Leisure Services)
- Program Operations: Oversee student waitlist. Plan and oversee daily schedules, events, and field trips; track staff and student attendance; verify timesheets for staff, support family engagement initiatives during and after school, create and submit communication content for postings, and update bulletin boards and newsletters with program information.
- Safety and Wellness: Maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for students and staff.
- Assessment and Improvement: Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements. Tracks and inputs attendance and survey (as needed) data
- Communication: Host stakeholder meetings. Maintain open communication with stakeholders and responsible for any end-of-year reporting related to program grant requirements. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or experience preferred, experience in program coordination or youth development.
- Experience: Proven success in coordinating youth programs, staff supervision, and community engagement.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities; proficiency in data collection and reporting.
- Personal Attributes: Ability to create an inclusive and engaging environment for diverse participants.
Working Conditions:
- Regularly required to move between locations within the school district.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Flexibility to works some evenings for family events and school- related activities
