About us:

Bloomington Pediatrics is seeking an energetic, reliable individual with a passion for pediatrics! Salary commensurate with experience.

Summary of Duties: This position will support the physicians and other providers in delivering quality health care to ambulatory patients and perform a variety of nursing-related tasks to promote continuity of care. This position will rotate between all 6 providers in our practice, floor nursing and phone triage, as well as assisting in our in-house lab.

Essential Functions:

Operational Tasks:

· Handles patient flow, including the preparing of rooms and patients and other duties as assigned by the Head Nurse according to the physician office protocols.

· Performs various tests/procedures and medication administration as ordered by providers in accordance with the associate’s licensed scope of care

· Anticipates the need for and completes all documentation necessary to ensure quality care based on policies and procedures including vital signs, immunizations, medications, history, procedures, and messages.

· Accurately records the following during a visit: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, reason for visit, administration of any medications or immunizations, and all procedures performed. Obtains consent if applicable.

· Demonstrate excellent communication and coordination with the Care Team.

· Provides phone triage for patient phone calls advising patients as appropriate, relaying physician instructions or scheduling an appointment.

· Documents all patient communications in medical record according to policies and procedures.

· Responsible for accurate specimen collection including patient identification and labeling based on laboratory collection procedures.

· Communicates with pharmacies to order new or refill prescriptions per protocol.

· Utilizes standing orders established by the practice and Evidence-Based Guidelines for effective and efficient patient care.

· Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques and patient coaching for patient self-management support.

· Proactively assists the Care Team in addressing the needs of the patient population.

· Assists in analyzing performance measurements to identify areas of improvement and works with the Care Team to establish and test methods for quality improvement.

· Knows where emergency equipment is located and makes it available to the provider.

· Performs patient education activities. Provides useful materials and other resources.

· Performs other procedures as ordered by the physicians.

· Cleans and restocks exam rooms.

· Cleans and sterilizes reusable equipment.

· Performs urgent janitorial tasks as necessary.

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Patient Satisfaction and Service:

· Provides efficient, high quality service to patients who arrive for appointments and those who call on the telephone or visit in person to request appointments, advice, information, referrals, and other assistance.

· Consistently demonstrates sincere understanding and empathy in interactions with patients.

· Treats patients, families and associates with respect and incorporates understanding of cultural differences into interactions and care.

· Participates in activities to evaluate and improve processes that will contribute to patient, associate and physician satisfaction.

· Conveys a professional image.

· Functions as a clinical support for the practice.

· Is attentive and responsive to the needs and concerns of patients, staff, and physicians.

· Works closely to resolve issues with involved parties.

Health Information Management and HIPAA Standards:

· A complete and accurate hard copy and/or electronic medical record will be maintained for every individual who is evaluated or treated within the medical group.

· Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of patient care and communication in person and via the telephone.

· Disposes and shreds papers containing patient identifiable information according to policy.

Risk/Safety Compliance:

· Complies with established OSHA safety standards.

· Maintains work area in accordance with the facility policy.

· Complies with infection control standards.

· Participates in annual safety training.

· Maintains department orderliness and cleanliness.

· Reports all non-compliance and incident occurrences and completes appropriate reporting documentation.

· Participates in in-services and other professional and growth opportunities.

Knowledge and Education Requirements:

· Current Illinois license.

· Current CPR certification.

· Graduate of accredited nursing/medical program.

· Able to communicate clearly and effectively in a caring manner.

· Proficient with equipment used in an ambulatory setting.

· Proficient with a keyboard and computers.

· Cooperates and works well with others.

· Ethical conduct.

Physical Requirements:

· Often required to move about inside the office.

· Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time while on the job.

· Must be able to stand for most of the workday.

· Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools including the ability to move a 25-pound object.

· Must be able to exchange information accurately and effectively.

· Must be able to operate a computer and other office machinery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $34.00 per hour
