What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Receptionist position at Bloomington Pediatrics & Allergy?
We are a busy independent pediatric practice looking to expand our already amazing Front Office crew! This is a clerical position with no direct patient care. Previous medical office experience is not required but is helpful!

Essential Functions:
· Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination with the Care Team.
· Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner.
· Works closely with other members of the Care Team to schedule, reschedule, follow-up, and monitor patient engagement.
· Verifies and maintains up-to-date patient demographics and insurance eligibility.
· Monitors, screens, and sorts Medical Home communication daily including telephone/Web encounters, fax inbox, mail, etc.
· Proactively assists the Care Team in pre-visit preparation, screening, assessing patient needs, and monitoring patient registries.
· Utilizes the registry and analyzes performance measurements to identify areas of improvement and works as a member of the Care Team to establish methods for quality improvement.
· Maintains order and compliance in the reception and waiting areas inclusive of up-to-date educational materials appropriate to the patient population as requested by the physicians.
· Identifies and collects payments due at time of service from patients/families.
· Administers picking up of prescriptions and documents by patients or their representatives.
· Follows all policies and procedures outlined by the practice.
· Welcomes callers on the telephone and then tends to their needs or refers them to those who can do so.
· Communicates well with patients, families and coworkers.
· Schedules patients’ appointments. Updates physicians’ appointment calendars.
· Maintains up-to-date patient records by scanning new and old documents into the database, disposing of hard copies in compliance with federal regulations for confidentiality.
· Performs other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, faxing etc.
· Maintains a safe and clean work area.
· Follows manufacturers’ and employer’s instructions for operation of telecommunication systems and office machines and devices.
· Coordinates tasks optimally with other members of the Care Team. Maintains team efficiency by communicating and documenting actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Contributes to Care Team efforts by undertaking and completing other related tasks as needed.
Knowledge and Education Requirements:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Sensitivity to confidential matters.
· Reception and/or phone answering experience in an office setting; medical office setting preferred.
· Proven ability to multi-task, solve problems, and apply critical thinking skills.
· Ability to organize, prioritize, and work under pressure.
· At least average keyboarding skills.
· Previous practical experience with an electronic medical record system preferred.
· Ethical conduct.
Physical Requirements:
· Occasionally required to move about inside and outside the office.
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time while on the job.
· Physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools including the ability to move a 25-pound object.
· Ability to exchange information accurately and effectively.
· Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37 – 40 per week

- Are you able to work a rotating Saturday morning? This position requires each receptionist to work a rotating Saturday morning each month from 7:45am-12:15pm.
